Fusion Splicing Accessories

AutoCoater
Designed for high strength applications, the AutoCoater protects splices of acrylate-coated optical fibers. With high productivity and low cost advantages, the autoCoater is fully automatic, allowing for operator independence in factory environments.
Extended Description

CleaveMeter-LDF
The CleaveMeter-LDF is a non-contact (Michelson) interferometer used to examine all types of large diameter fibers with a cladding diameter of 250-1200um. The optical system consists of a CCD camera with two user-selectable magnifications. Connected to the USP-ort of an external PC, parameters and settings are programmed from the PC.

Cotton Swabs
Thorough cleaning of a fusion splicer's optical elements and alignment V-grooves is critical to ensure successful trouble-free splicing operations. CS-1 Cotton Swabs are especially useful for such cleaning operations. The small size of the CS-1 swabs ensures accessibility in tight places and will not leach out chemicals or lint and contaminate optical elements.

Fiber Arrangement Tools
The FAT-02 Fiber Arrangement Tool is an industry standard tool for forming individual 250um coated fibers into ribbons.

Fiber Holders
AFL Telecommunications offers a variety of Fiber Holders to enhance your fusion splicing efficiency. Fiber holders are available in 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16 and 24 fibers capacities for ribbon-fiber arrangements.

Fiber Separation Tool
The FST-12 Fiber Separation Tool is used to quickly, Accurately and reliably split ribbons into sub-groups or individual fibers.

FSR-02 Fiber Recoater
To meet the small package requirements of OEMs, AFL Telecommunications offer the FSR-02 fiber recoater. The FSR-02 eliminates the need for splice protection sleeves by automatically recoating a colored or non-colored fiber back to the original coating diameter after a splice is complete.

MiniCoater
The MiniCoater restores the primary coating on spliced optical fibers with acrylate coatings. The fiber is automatically centered when it is inserted into the mould. Due to the mould design, the restored part of the coating retains almost the same diameter as the original coating.

ProofTester
The ProofTester is ideal for optical fiber strength testing up to 20N. Compact and light weight, the ProofTester meets all types of applications where a strength test must be performed.

Recoater 1
The Recoater 1 restores the primary coating on spliced optical fibers with acrylate coatings. Fiber is automatically centered when it is inserted into the mould. Due to the mould desing, the restored port of the coating retains almost the same diameter as the original coating.

Ribbon Forming Adjesive
A key advantage of both fiber arrangement tools is the use of the ribbon forming adhesive. Ribbons formed with this adheasive have excellent stripability, especially compared to ribbonizing methods using tape.

Splice-Protection
Fiber protection sleeves are used to reinforce mass spliced optical fibers.

Splicing V-Groove Cleaning Kit
The Splicer V-Groove Cleaning Kit integrates eight components into an affordable and effective inspection and cleaning solution for any fusion splicer.

Splicing-Work-Station
The ASW-02 Splicing Workstation can be used with a splicer and cleaver in aerial or terrestrial applications. The work tray provides a stable work surface and secure mounting of the fusion splicer and cleaver to prevent accidental drops.

Temporary Joining Tool
The TJ-03 and TJ-24 provide a temporary fiber splice for fiber and cable connections to test equipment such as OTDRs. The TJ-03 uses a precision ceramic V-groove to align up to 12 fibers simultaneously and the TJ-24 aligns up to 24 fibers.

USC-01A Ultrasonic Cleaner
The Fujikura ultrasonic cleaner model USC-01A provides a simple and cost effective method for cleaning optical fibers when high strength fusion splices are required. This ultrasonic cleaner readily accepts the fiber holders used with the FSM-40F and FSM-40PM
